Construction forward look w/c 4th May

As part of our commitment to providing regular updates for local residents during this period of lockdown we are pleased to provide the following information regarding planned construction activity for the week commencing 4th May. Please note that no work will take place and site will be closed on the early May bank holiday, which this year takes place on Friday 8th May to coincide with VE day.

During this week, we will continue to strip materials from the roof of Block F and we will also be continuing the removal of the roof structure. We have now completed the installation of a temporary water supply to this area to help reduce dust and debris as we do this. We will continue the removal of blockwork to both the front and rear elevations of block F using workforce on the scaffolding and also carry on with the removal of flooring within block F and the installation of drainage runs externally, using excavators, dumpers and diggers both inside and outside.

We continue to monitor noise and vibration levels daily to ensure they are within permitted levels and the towable bowser remains in use to dampen down work areas around the site on a regular basis. We will continue to refrain from undertaking internal works to block F until after 9am, however we would like to clarify that work may begin elsewhere on site before this time. This policy may be subject to review in the forthcoming weeks in line with any relevant information and announcements regarding the likely length of the lockdown period.

We await test results regarding the suspected asbestos containing materials recently discovered beneath the floor void in block F. Meanwhile, the area remains isolated to prevent access. Background air monitoring has been carried out with a negative reading produced, advising that no asbestos containing material fibres were released into the air. Again, it is important to note that it is not unusual for asbestos to be found in buildings built before the year 2000 and that all work is being carried out in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Further updates will be provided when required.

Please note that the work we have planned may sometimes change due to the level of available workforce. We will do our best to keep you updated with any material changes that may affect you. On social media please follow @ChocFactoryBris on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as we will keep this updated with any news.
