CONSTRUCTION LOOK FORWARD W/C 22nd February 2021 | The Chocolate Factory

We are pleased to provide the following information regarding planned construction works for the week of the 22nd February 2021. Please note that the work we have planned may sometimes change. We will do our best to keep you updated with any material changes that may affect you.

This week, there will be plant and machinery movements around the areas of Terrace 5 and Block G located adjacent to the Railway Path and with masonry works continuing. Further excavation works will continue adjacent to Green Oak Crescent for the removal of the existing ground in order to commence the foundations to Block B using excavators and dumpers, with deliveries of muckaway vehicles. We have also commenced with the new site pedestrian access along the boundary to Green Oak Crescent. We will also be continuing with some minor drilling works to Block D to form openings through the existing floors using coring attachments and commence with the removal of the scaffolding to Block D using ratchet drills which will generate some noise intermittently.

With regards to Block F, we have completed the erection of scaffolding to the front of the building but there will be some ongoing minor adjustments to the existing scaffolding on other elevations. Other ongoing work in this area includes the removal of blockwork to both the front and rear elevations by our workforce on the scaffolding, and breaking out brickwork at roof level to Block F Townhouses. Internally, we will be installing new blockwork, fixing new brick ties and installing scaffolding which will generate some drilling noise as we safely fix this to the walls. We will be continuing with the installation of Plasterboard partitions which will generate intermittent noise by the use of power tools. New window installation will continue to Block F Apartments this week including the installation of new rain water goods at roof level. This will generate some noise with the use of hand tools.

Elsewhere on site, we will be continuing scaffold adaptions to Terrace 3 and Terrace 4 as well as new brickwork to Terrace 3 and Terrace 4. We expect ongoing deliveries including articulated vehicles via the site entrance on Greenbank Road.

A towable water bowser remains in use to dampen down work areas around the site on a regular basis. In addition to this, we have the provision of a water cannon which is being used for dust suppression which is situated in the area of Block F by the elevation closest to the Railway Path.

The terms agreed with the local supplier towards the end of last year to provide additional parking facilities off-site has continued to have had the intended positive effect of reducing the amount of sub-contractors parking on the public highway close to site. Nevertheless, we shall continue to monitor contractors’ parking on public highways and will make contact with BCC Parking Services in the event of vehicles found to be parked illegally.

On social media please follow @ChocFactoryBris on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as we will keep this updated with any relevant news and updates. For those without regular access to digital media, a community noticeboard is displayed on the hoarding at the entrance to site on Greenbank Road.
